Summary: Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as hydraulics, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

• Repairs or replaces defective parts.

• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.

• Lubricates and cleans parts.

• Starts devices to test their performance.

• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

• Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.

• Repairs electrical equipment.

• Creates daily maintenance work orders and performs plant maintenance.

• Ensures safety compliance and lock out tag out.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and minimum of 5 years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
