Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Logistics Manager position is responsible for maintaining departmental safety rules and safe work practices ensuring that each employee is working in safe and secure environment. He/She is to communicate the goals of the facility to all direct reports and facilitate the removal of obstacles that prevent the facility from attaining set goals. Furthermore, the Incumbent will act as a leader in continual improvement programs such as: ISO-9000 and GMS. He/She will coordinate on an on-going basis with other plant functions such as Accounting, Maintenance / Engineering, and Human Resources and will ensure that an open line of communication is maintained with the local union leadership, as well as all employees, to maintain and improve the quality of products and the work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The review and reporting of key performance indicators.
All long term and short term production planning for Chicago Heights.
All procurement activities at Chicago Heights.
All shipping and receiving activities at Chicago Heights.
FG, Raw, Packaging, and Storeroom inventories.
Maintain up to date specification data.
All Deco / Re-sort department activities.
All new product development initiatives.
Principle contact for sales and Customer Service.
Identify and eliminate waste within the organization.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enforce safety rules and work practices within each department.
Counsel employees and administer recognition or discipline where appropriate.
Communicate with Sales and Customer Service as needed to ensure on-time delivery to the Customer.
Manage Re-sort / Deco department to ensure on-time delivery to the Customer.
Maintain and publish detailed schedule located on Chicago Heights’ shared drive.
The creation and distribution of production orders as needed.
Work with transportation partners to ensure claim free, cost effective, on-time delivery of product.
Ensure that procurement operates within a competitive quoting environment.
Ensure timely and accurate receipt of incoming material and services.
Monitor and control Raw material, Packaging, and Storeroom inventory levels.
Ensure accuracy of product Material Master, BOM, and Routings.
Ensure that packaging, raw material, and Storeroom vendors meet or exceed expected material quality and on time delivery.
Manage packaging storage areas ensuring that sufficient capacity is available.
Review departmental leased equipment to ensure that all are available and in proper working order.
Ensure that all Customer specification is up to date and available for review.
Participate as needed in month-end closing.
Participate as needed in year-end physical inventory.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
MUST have Proficiency in the use of SAP knowledge, SAP utilization, ERP systems, Word, Excell, Power Point and other Windows based programs.
Experience with Six Sigma, ISO 9000, etc…


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
ASQ, APICS, or CPIM certification preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal administration related physical demands.
HOURS: 8-5PM with some overtime (if needed)

SALARY: $70,000 - $80,000K yearly
