Job Description

The Journeyman Electrician/Maintenance Technician 1 is responsible for performing preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, tools, and assists other members of the maintenance department various electric and machine/building repairs. Works under immediate supervision; relies on specific direction and instruction.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs regular and preventive maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building.

  • Assists in the repair of woodworking machinery, in feed/out feed systems, hand tools and forklifts in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturing specifications.

  • Has working knowledge of PLC's

  • Has working knowledge of running conduit

  • Orders parts and supplies as required

  • Maintains record of all repairs and maintenance activities

  • Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures.

  • Maintains work area clean and organized

  • Participated in safety, CI and other

  • If assigned to the treating department, perform duties consistent with hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices.

  • Prepares various reports as required and any other duties that are requested on a day to day basis.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, control tech., and welding

  • Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules and regulations.

  • The ability to understand basic math and numbers, basic knowledge of a computer, and calculator.

  • Demonstrates the ability to follow detailed instructions.

  • Has the ability to read blue prints, technical diagrams, and operating manuals.

  • Has the ability to use precision measuring tools and manual tools.

  • Has the ability to speak, read, and write in English.

  • Has the ability to identify safety issues in the work area.

  • Has the ability to pass a drug test.

Has the ability to work hours mandated by the company.
